Indiana woman killed in Smokies car crash

A woman from Indiana is dead after a car crash Wednesday morning in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Park rangers say the crash happened around 10:43 a.m. on Clingmans Dome Road about two miles west of Newfound Gap. A 2009 Honda Fit left the roadway and landed upside down about 40 feet below.

The driver, a 55-year-old woman from Indiana, was the only person in the vehicle. She died from her injuries. Her name has not been released.
