KUB crews continue work after underground water main break

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — UPDATE: A Knoxville Utilities Board spokesperson confirmed a lane of traffic has reopened in each direction, north and south. The northbound, curbside lane of S. Gray Street at Union remains closed at this time as crews continue repairs through Sunday evening. .

Traffic access to Union Avenue is also open.


Knoxville Utilities Board says crews are expected to reopen the intersection of Gay Street and Union Avenue by 4 p.m. as they begin cleanup after a water main break.

The southbound parking lane will be used for southbound traffic while one inside lane will be used for northbound traffic from Union to Wall Avenue.

Knoxville Utilities Board reports the intersection at South Gay Street and Union Avenue in Downtown Knoxville is closed until crews can make repairs to an underground water main break.

KUB says the intersection will be closed for much of the day.

They will provide updates as they become available.
