KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Knoxville Police are investigating the death of a woman found shot in East Knoxville on Saturday, July 16.

Police have identified the woman as 26-year-old Jefasha Mitchell.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Louise Avenue after receiving a call about a woman with at least one gunshot wound. Reports said that she was found in a car that was parked in an alley.

Officers pulled her out of the car and began efforts to save her life. She was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The woman’s identity has not been released at this time.

“Numerous” witnesses were interviewed but a suspect has not been identified, according to KPD. Anyone with information about the woman or who may have shot her is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
