Traffic on State Route 92 in Jefferson County, also known as Chestnut Hill Road, is being diverted to alternate routes after a rock slide Monday morning.

The slide was reported around 10 a.m. near the intersection with Lake Breeze Drive. The Tennessee Department of Transportation is working to allow one lane of traffic to pass through, but was unable to provide a timeline for when that would happen.

A slide affected the same area on February 23. It’s not only inconvenient for drivers but hurts revenue for nearby businesses, including a popular restaurant.

“Certain construction crews come in daily for lunch. We get to know them, and it’s kind of sad when they move onto a new location. And we have people a lot of people from the Bush plant come and we get to know them and locals of course,” said Dawn Jones with Indian Creek Market and Deli.

Jones says the closure is slowing down their kitchen, but it’s staying open.

“Bear with us. Try to get a reroute and come see us. We miss you,” said Jones.
