Kentucky woman donates car to Gatlinburg family who lost everything in fires

GATLINBURG (WATE) – A family who lost everything in the Gatlinburg wildfire got a huge gift on Tuesday.

Jenny Blanton of Kentucky was planning on trading in her car, until she heard about the Pelc family.

“They said you don’t want to trade it? I said no, I’m taking it to Gatlinburg giving it to a family,” said Blanton.

“I could never imagine people could be as generous as Miss Jenny was when she donated my wife and I this car. It’s going to save us so much. We won’t have to walk to do laundry or grocery shopping,” said Greg Pelc.

After signing a few pieces of paper, the car from Kentucky became one from Tennessee.

“It’s an overflowing kind of joy that you feel. Your heart feels good,” said Blanton.

Blanton hopes her donation inspires others.

“I’m one person, one car. If car dealerships out there can donate, it doesn’t matter to me how many, bring them in,” she said.

The Pelc family is unbelievably grateful to those who worked to turn a nightmare into a dream.

“Jenny is an angel of hope,” said Pelc.

The Pelc family has promised free rides to anyone in Sevier County displaced by the fire who needs one.
