KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputy and three others were taken to the hospital after a car crash on Rutledge Pike.

The crash happened Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. on Spring Hill Road, according to KCSO representative Hillary Martin. A KCSO vehicle was on Rutledge Pike near the intersection of Spring Hill Rd when a minivan attempting to turn onto the road from a business pulled into the cruiser’s path said KCSO.

After the collision, the cruiser crossed the roadway into a parking lot and hit a concrete divider. The deputy was taken to UT Medical Center for his injuries. In addition, three passengers in the minivan were taken to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

KCSO said the minivan driver was cited for failure to yield, driving with no license, and expired tags.
