Knox County law enforcement escorts fallen Chattanooga police officer

Knox County law enforcement escorted the procession of a fallen Chattanooga police officer Wednesday afternoon as the procession made its way from Chattanooga to Cincinnatti, Ohio.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Knoxville Police Department escorted the procession of officer Nicholas Galinger as it traveled trhough Knox County on I-75.

Galinger was killed late Saturday night in a hit-and-run while he was checking a manhole cover that had water flowing from it. He was transported to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Galinger was identified as Janet Hinds. She was added to the TBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list before turning herself in on Monday. Hinds was charged with vehicular homicide.
