Local News

What began as a simple traffic stop in Knox County Tuesday yielded several thousand dollars worth of dangerous and illicit drugs upon investigation.

Officers with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit recovered 20 grams of heroin, 5 grams of marijuana and two oxycodone pills during a traffic stop on Tuesday, January 22.

The heroin is believed to be mixed with Fentanyl, which is one of the main components in overdose deaths. The street value of the heroin is estimated to be over $6,000.

They also recovered $300 dollars in counterfeit currency and $681 in cash.

KCSO has yet to announce a suspect or any charges. This is a developing story and we’ll continue to update the details as they become available.
