A Knox County woman was arrested after law enforcement says she “slightly scratched” lottery tickets at the convenience store where she worked and then sold the losting tickets to unsuspecting customers.

Arrest records show Delany Ann Schaffer is charged with lottery sales fraud. A Tennessee Lottery inspector said he recieved a tip from a customer that he had bought several lottery tickets at Kenjo Market, 404 Emory Road, and noticed they had been tampered with.

Documents allege Schaffer slightly scratched the bonus box area of the tickets to reveal if they were a winner or loser. She would then put the losing tickets back in the display case and sell them to customers, while keeping the winners to redeem herself.

The report says surveillance video from the store confirms Schaffer carried this out on more than one occassion. She also admitted to tampering with the tickets in a written statement.
