Knoxville’s City Council passed a resolution encouraging the Tennessee Department of Transportation to invest in improvements along Chapman Highway.
Chapman Highway is a major entry point for the city with tens of thousands of drivers using the roadway every day.
When it comes to safety, Knoxville City Councilwoman Stephanie Welch says there are a variety of different options on the table.
”We know that there are safety and design concerns along Chapman Highway. There have been for years,” Welch said. “There is funding available through the improve act to make improvements and now’s the time to start making those investments.”
There will be a community workshop meeting Tuesday, April 16. The goal is to learn more about all the different safety priorities. The meeting will be held at South Doyle Middle School at 5 p.m.
