KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Knox County District Attorney’s office said a Crips gang member was convicted of robbing a 79-year-old man.

Dennis Christopher Lowery, 35, was found guilty of robbery and theft over $10,000. During his trial the district attorney’s office said on December 26, 2015 Lowery stole $26,000 from a man on the way to the bank.
Assistant District Attorney TaKisha Fitzgerald said the 79-year-old man stopped at the Hardee’s located at 3318 Chapman Highway for breakfast on his way to the bank. She said Lowery followed the man after he had finished his breakfast, chased the man around his vehicle and grabbed the cash from his pocket.
Several witnesses saw the robbery and it was also recorded on surveillance cameras at the restaurant, according to the district attorney’s office. Sentencing was originally scheduled for September 22, but was pushed back to October 20.Previous story: Knoxville man arrested, charged with robbing 79-year-old man
