Knoxville holds public meeting on Urban Wilderness project

Local News

Knoxville’s gateway to the urban wilderness one step closer to a reality as organizers held their second public meeting.

This meeting was all about taking feedback from the community.

The urban wilderness gateway is a $10-million dollar investment by the city of Knoxville to create a connection between Morningside Park to South Knoxville.

The project was made possible by Governor Haslam and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Urban Wilderness Coordinator Rebekah Jane Montgomery said the meeting served, “To hear the neighbors and the existing park users say what they like and what they prioritize has really helped shape the park to be a community asset.”

They hope to break ground on phase one of this project sometime in the spring.
