KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Knoxville man was arrested Friday morning for public intoxication and operating an E-Scooter in the wrong direction.
Martel Storm was arrested and charged with public intoxication, driving on the right, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
According to reports, Storm was seen driving on the sidewalk of the 100 block of South Gay Street at 2:09 a.m. An officer told Storm that it was against the law to drive an E-Scooter on the sidewalk.
Storm was later seen driving the E-Scooter traveling northbound in the southbound lane in the 300 block of South Gay Street. Storm was within five feet of another officer dealing with another incident. Storm tried to interfere with what the officer was doing. The officer told him to leave the area and stop interfering with the incident. Storm interfered again.
The officer asked Storm for identification to give him a citation for the traffic violation. Storm told the officer that he didn’t have identification on him. Storm then refused to give the officer his name. Officers told Storm that he was going to jail and grabbed his wrists.
According to reports, Storm began to pull away from officers.
