The city of Knoxville is planning for more improvements along Cumberland Avenue.
Recent transformation on the strip included changing four lanes of the roadway into two with a center turn lane.
City planners have discussed what’s known as the ‘Cumberland Avenue Signals Project, which is aimed at replacing traffic signals, crosswalks and how curbs are cut at four intersections.
Plans also call for improved street lighting between 16th Street and Phillip Fulmer Way and James Agee Street.
The city saying the look will match recent improvements on Cumberland.
Bidding for the project opened last month. No word on when we could see all of the work completed.
