Five women were arrested Monday night after a shoplifting call at Walmart in East Knoxville, including one who was wanted on racketeering charges.
The Knoxville Police Department said they were called to the Walmart at 3051 Kinzel Way around 9:30 p.m. While investigating, the loss prevention department informed officers there were five other shoplifting suspects who were working together and about to exit the store.
The suspects had a large amount of merchandise, according to police. One suspect left the store and acted as a lookout for the others. Police say the suspects left their items behind and fled through emergency exits, but were later caught.
