Local News

Two suspects are behind bars Monday after a carjacking in South Knoxville with the help of one K9 officer.

Knoxville police officers responding to reports of a stolen vehicle found along Whedbee Drive and Sanderson Road just after 5 p.m. Saturday. Suspects had taken the vehicle during an armed carjacking on Thursday.

When officers arrived, the two suspects ran. The officers were able to chase them down thanks to Nash, one of the department’s K9 officers.

One suspect surrendered after Nash caught and bit a second suspect before he went down.

Both are now facing charges of possession of heroin for resale in a school zone with that second suspect is charged with evading arrest.

We’re told carjacking charges are pending as well.
