The Knoxville Police Department is asking for help to find a hit and run driver who they say caused a crash involving a motorcycle officer on Tuesday.

Police say Officer Greg Womack was going eastbound on Interstate 40 just before 3 p.m. and took the Sutherland Avenue exit. He came to a complete stop at the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp. While he was waiting for traffic to clear, a vehicle slammed into the rear of the motorcycle.

Police say the suspect vehicle was a silver or gray small crossover SUV with front end damage. It may have a temporary tag.

The vehicle was last seen going west on Sutherland Avenue. Anyone with information should call (865) 215-7212.
