Knoxville police seek information on shots fired near downtown

Knoxville police are asking for anyone with information about shots being fired Tuesday afternoon in the area of N. Broadway and W. Fifth Avenue to come forward.

Police say they received at least two calls about a gun being fired in that area around 12:31 p.m. Several used pistol casings were found on the sidewalk. They believe the shooter approached a group of people standing on the sidewalk and began shooting before running off.

So far, no victims have come forward and the shooter’s identity is unknown.
