Knoxville woman charged with attempted first-degree murder,aggravated arson

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A Knoxville woman was arrested Thursday after she tried to burn a trailer down with two people inside, a woman and her child.

Sarah Boling was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated arson.

According to reports, officers responded to the 8500 block of Diamond View Way on an arson call.

Upon arrival, the victim told officers that she was in the shower. When she got out of the shower, the bed in her father and fiance's room was on fire. Boling is the fiance of the victim's father. Boling told the victim the bed was on fire.

The victim tried to put the fire out and couldn't. The victim grabbed her 3-year-old daughter and left the house.

Officer's read Boling her rights and then asked how the fire started.

According to reports, Boling said she was smoking marijuana and when the marijuana baggie was empty she placed it on the bed and set the bag on fire.

According to police records, Boling said she wanted to burn the trailer down because she could and wanted to burn it down with the victim and her daughter inside.

Boling was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated arson.
