Knoxville woman facing charges of financial exploitation of elderly person

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – A Knoxville woman is facing charges of financial exploitation of an elderly or vulnerable person.

Deanna Catlett is accused of taking advantage of an elderly person who needed daily assistance; Catlett, acting as a caretaker, allegedly took items from the victim’s home while that person was bed-bound in a medical facility. 

Among those items taken was the victim’s credit card. 

Catlett allegedly spent more than $5,000 to pay for a surgical procedure and also used another $1,000 in Knox County over the course of three months in 2018. 

The offense is a felony.
