Knoxville’s equity lunch honors businesses, leaders

Local News

City of Knoxville leaders held a luncheon Tuesday to thank all their community partners that work to make Knoxville fair and equal.

At the sixth-annual Equity Awards Lunch, five individuals and businesses were awarded for the work they do year-round to improve the Knoxville community.

“I think everyone wants to live in a community where there’s an equal playing field — where people have an opportunity to prosper and give back… and have an opportunity to work and serve the community,” said Mayor Madeline Rogero.

The Community Development Board said the event is extra special this year, marking the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act.
