Lady Vols support launch of Alzheimer’s Magazine

Local News

The Lady Vols basketball team and the Alzheimer’s Association have teamed up to fight Alzheimer’s. Thursday was the launch of the inaugural issue of Alzheimer’s Magazine, featuring Candace Parker, a former Lady Vols basketball player, on the cover.

The cover is a reminder of the deep connections between Alzheimer’s research, East Tennessee and the legacy of UT coaching legend Pat Summitt.

“Pat Summitt talked a lot about teamwork, and it boils down to the Alzheimer’s Association teaming up with this community, going across the country and raising awareness, raising money,” said current Lady Vols head coach Holly Warlick. “We all know somebody that has Alzheimer’s. We know right now there’s not a cure. It’s up to us to do the work, to put in the time to find a cure for Alzheimer’s.”

Coming up this September is the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Chilhowee Park, another way East Tennessee can support research to stop this disease.
