WATE 6 On Your Side’s Lori Tucker was asked to be “Principal for a Day” at a local media and communications magnet elementary school on Thursday.

Knox County Schools opened its hallways to some select members of the community to serve as “Principal for a Day.”

Lori was asked to join in on the morning newscast with students and actual principal, Dr. Amy Brace, at the Sarah Moore Greene Magnet Academy.

The magnet school is focused on media and communications. Students join the schools’ “news crew” each semester to learn the skills necessary to broadcast the morning news announcements, such as operating cameras, computers, graphics and computers.

The school also adapts the philosophies of the book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.

“It’s trying to foster that sense of community and that we take care of each other,” Bruce told Lori.
