Madisonville Fire-Rescue, MPD help dog out of cave on private property

Local News

The Madisonville Fire Rescue and Madisonville Police Department helped out a private property owner Monday after a dog had fallen into a cave on Hiwassee Road.

According to MFD, MPD Animal Control Officer Damian Cook anchored himself to a tree dropped a ladder into the cave, leashed the dog and began his ascent with her.

The dog’s owner said she had been missing for two weeks.

The dog was muddy, hungry, and had a few scrapes but was in overall good health, MFD said via Facebook post.

“Thank you to Mr. Roberts for searching his property until he found the howling dog and to Officer Cook for getting her out!” MFD said.
