Man charged with impersonating police officer in Knox County gym parking lot

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says it has charged a man suspected of impersonating a police officer and pulling a gun on a woman in a North Knox County gym parking lot.

Troy Norman, 40, was arrested on January 20 and charged with driving on a revoked license from a previous DUI. He was later charged with aggravated assault and criminal impersonation.

Deputies say Norman confronted a woman in the parking lot of Workout Anytime, 3547 W. Emory Road, on January 14. He said he was a police officer and pointed a handgun in her direction.

Norman is being held on a combined $37,000 bond. He has a criminal history that includes DUI, reckless boating, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and multiple other driving and boating offenses.
