Officials in Morgan County are investigating after what they believe to be a man’s remains were found in a wooded area near Wartburg.
The remains were found Monday near Anderson Road. A preliminary examination by the University of Tennessee pathology department determined they were a man’s remains and they had been in the woods for at least five to seven years.
Several teams searched the woods for several hours but found no additional remains.
The remains have been released to the University of Tennessee where they will be analyzed and an attempt will be made to identify them.
