One person was taken to the hospital after a fire broke out in a Northwest Knox County Marina.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Jason Chad Smith, 46, tripped a circuit breaker on board his cabin cruiser docked at the Melton Hill Marina on Solway Ferry Pike. When the breaker tripped, an explosion happened, setting the boat on fire. The fire spread onto the dock and burned 10 boats. Another eight boats were damaged by the fire in varying degrees.

Smith was taken to Vanderbilt Burn Center with serious, but non-life-threatening, burns.

The Karns Fire Department responded to a call around 11 p.m. Monday. Crews found multiple watercraft on fire when they arrived on the scene. Fire crews said propane tanks on some of the boats exploded, causing the fire to spread.
