KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – New blood donations are direly needed by the MEDIC Regional Blood Center as it enters into an emergency appeal for blood.
In the last few weeks, they’ve seen the demand for blood nearly double, yet it’s also the time of year that donations start to waiver and dip as people prepare for vacations, trips and the end of the school year.
To keep up with the demand, MEDIC officials are calling for local donations, as they are sending out more blood than they’re taking in.
We’re told there’s a need for all blood types, but, type O- and type O+ are needed most.
If you’re able to give blood in the next few weeks, you’re encouraged to stop by any of the MEDIC Regional Blood Center locations – in downtown Knoxville, Farragut, Crossville and Athens.
