Monroe County K9 locates meth, heroin worth $10,000 during traffic stop

K9 Rocko with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office may be rewarded well after he located illicit drugs in the vehicle of a suspect in Sweetwater during a traffic stop. 

The suspect, Tyler McCrary, was taken into custody and charged with possession of heroin and methamphetamine for resale. 

According to MCSO, the traffic stop happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday on Sweetwater Vonore Road. Deputy BJ Johnson deployed K9 Rocko  to conduct a sniff around the vehicle and Rocko alerted Johnson of an odor or narcotics. 

The officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 3.5 ounces of crystal methamphetamine and heroin. Estimated street value – around $10,000. 

No word yet on McCrary’s arraignment schedule.
