A change is coming to a busy roadway to honor the men and women in uniform who serve us every day.
Some lawmakers decided to add more signs to the Veterans Memorial Mile in Knox County. The mile is a stretch of Highway 62 from the Solway Bridge to State Route 162.
There was already one sign in that spot, but now each military branch will be represented with their own.
“Our veterans do so much for us. You know I think the county mayor had a great response. You know one percent of your people give us 100 percent of our freedom,” said State Rep. Roger Kane. “They make a huge amount of sacrifice and we need to do a little bit better than one sign on the side of the road.”
Kane went on to say each military branch wil lbe able to landscape around each of their respective signs to make them more personal and unique.
