MMORRISTOWN (WATE) – A nurse practitioner working in Morristown has been charged with using her position to fraudulently obtain controlled substances.
Tracy Leigh Coffey, 47, of Rutledge, was indicted Tuesday on eight counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says their investigation shows between October 2012 and August 2015, while working at two medical practices in Morristown, she fraudulently wrote and called in prescriptions in an effort to obtain hydrocodone and tizanidine pills.
She was arrested Wednesday and is being held on $24,000 bond.
