NC company fined after employee killed at Greene County plant

A North Carolina roofing company has been fined after the death of an employee in Greene County last fall.

Newly released documents reveal 36-year-old Matt Pettigrew died when he fell more than 20 feet from the roof of the 3M Corporation in Midway Tennessee.

It happened on October 14th.

The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration report says Pettigrew was a foreman for Davco Roofing and Sheet Metal based out of Charlotte, North Carolina.

The TOSHA investigation found Pettigrew fell through the roof as it was being replaced.

Investigators blamed his employer for not ensuring that the surface was safe for employees and for not ensuring the safety system to protect against falls didn’t meet standard criteria.

TOSHA fined Davco $6000.
