Newfound Gap Road back open after multi-vehicle crash

Newfound Gap Road has opened back up to the public following a multi-vehicle crash on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. 

Newfound Gap Road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was closed Tuesday afternoon as emergency crews respond to a vehicle collision.

At 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, a park spokesperson said the road was closed from Sugarlands Visitor Center to Smokemont Campground while park rangers and other emergency crews responded to the accident near mile marker 22.

The spokesman said there are injuries as a result of the wreck.
