Despite the lack of rain and abundance of sunshine in Knoxville, floodwaters haven’t receded enough to allow residents to leave their homes.

Many people living off of Northshore Drive near Ebenezer Road are trapped by flooded roads.

Resident Kara Darrough said people are only able to leave if they are able to walk at least a mile, and that’s if they have a vehicle waiting for them on the other side of the flooded roadways.

“Northshore Hills is completely blocked off. Cottington Lane is completely blocked off. So everyone right here, they can’t get out. They can’t get out by car,” Darrough said.

There are usually multiple ways to get onto Northshore Blvd, Darrough said.

All of them are closed due to flooding.

Darrough said the water had receded about four feet since Sunday.
