One Northview Senior Academy student was taken into custody Wednesday night after an alleged threat involving a firearm was made on social media.

No further information on the student in custody was provided.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office also said investigators from its office, the Sevierville Police Department and Sevier County Schools collaborated in the effort and the student was brought into custody.

Law enforcement was initially told of the threat Wednesday evening.

As a precaution, SCSO said, extra members from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, the Sevierville Police Department, and the Sevier County School System will be on hand to enhance the security measures already in place at the Northview Academy.

“Effective school security hinges on the partnership between law enforcement and the community we serve. Thank you for the cooperation and remember, ‘see something, say something,'” SCSO said.
