One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Asheville and Gov. John Sevier highways on Monday.
The accident happened when a Kia minivan traveling westbound on Asheville Highway attempted to turn south onto Gov. John Sevier Highway.
The driver did not see a Jeep traveling eastbound on Asheville Highway and the two vehicles collided, Knoxville Police said in a news release.
After the initial collision, the van struck a Chevrolet truck turning east on Asheville Highway, police said.
A woman in the front passenger seat of the Kia was dead at the scene when officers arrived at 12:36 p.m.
The other occupants from the three vehicles sustained minor injuries.
Fatal Accident Investigators are continuing the investigation. The name of the victim is pending notification of her family.
