Parents of Pierce Corcoran to attend State of the Union

Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn and U.S. Rep. Tim Burchett announced Thursday Pierce Corcoran’s parents will be guests at the upcoming State of the Union address in Washinton, D.C.

Sen. Blackburn’s office released Thursday that she will invite DJ Corcoran to the State of the Union and Wendy Corcoran will be Tim Burchett’s guest.

“My wife gladly gave up her spot for the Corcorans, and I’m honored to have them in attendance at the State of the Union,” said Congressman Burchett. “I have been friends with their family for years, and I can’t imagine how difficult it was losing Pierce. Congress has to get to work on stronger laws and increased border security so tragedies like this might be prevented in the future.”

The Corcoran family’s son and brother Pierce, 22, was killed in a head-on collision late last month on the Chapman Highway. Prosecutors say the driver blamed in the crash, Franco Francisco-Eduardo, was in the country illegally.

Senator Blackburn and Vice President Mike Pence had met with the parents earlier this month.
