Tennessee Department of Transportation crews are in the process of smoothing out some of the pothole-ridden areas along Interstate 40.
TDOT spokesman Mark Nagi said crews spent Tuesday morning paving a section of I-40 West near Sevierville.
“You’ll see more and more crews working on interstate and state routes in the weeks and months to come,” said Nagi.
Nagi said there can be many challenges when it comes to repairing pot holes including change in temperature, rain and the amount of traffic flowing through a certain area.
Warmer weather is allowing road crews to use hot mix, providing more of a permanent solution. However, Nagi reminds drivers there will be continued bridge work in West Knoxville for the next two weekends. Bridge work will take place at the West Hills exit 380 from Friday night at 8 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m.
“We had to have this bridge work take place before resurfacing work that will take place later in spring and summer,” said Nagi.
