A bill that would allow Zoo Knoxville to sell alcoholic drinks is making its way through the Tennessee state legislature.
House Bill 71 authorizes the sale of alcoholic beverages and beer for consumption on the premises of Zoo Knoxville during the zoo’s regular operating hours.
Under existing state law the zoo is allowed to sell alcohol, but only during special events and not to the general public.
The Tennessee Senate passed a version of the bill Tuesday. The House version has been referred to committee.
