Pursuit of Campbell County vehicular assault suspect ends with crash in Clinton

A police chase that began in Campbell County ended in Clinton on Thursday afternoon with a crash and the suspect in handcuffs.

Tennessee Highway Patrol says suspect Matt McCarty was wanted in a vehicular assault case in Campbell County. Officers in LaFollette recognized him and began pursuing his Chevrolet Impala.

The chase ended on Charles Seivers Boulevard in Clinton when the Impala crashed into a Chevy Tahoe at the Interstate 75 offramp.

No one in the Tahoe was injured, but two people in the Impala, including a pregnant woman in the passenger seat, were taken to UT Medical Center with minor injuries.

McCarty now faces several charges.
