A collaborative local initiative is giving local at-risk youth the opportunity to give back to the community and learn valuable life skills.
The Restorative Justice Program is a collaborative effort from the Knox County District Attorney, Knox County Juvenile Court and the Compassion Coalition. As part of the program, non-violent juvenile offenders complete community service projects with positive role models teaching valuable life lessons.
The program aims to replace punitive sentences for juvenile offenders with more meaningful rehabilitative experience that will improve their communities and gives the chance to teach life lessons.
The Restorative Justice Program began in 2003.
