Roane County Commission votes to borrow $10 million for road repair

Local News

Several areas in East Tennessee experiencing record rainfall and flooding earlier this year. Now one county is borrowing $10 million to begin tackling repairs.

Many Roane County roads were badly damaged by flooding. Riggs Chapel Road and one lane of Bowman Bend Road were affected by washouts, rock slides and crumbling road surfaces.

The Roane County Commission voted to take out a five-year note for $10 million.

While it could take up to 30 days for the money to come in, we’re told the process of beginning repairs is already underway.
