Rockford woman facing several charges after attempting to hit deputy cruiser

A Rockford woman is behind bars after she attempted to hit a Blount County Sheriff’s deputy cruiser while trying to evade arrest.

Julia Myers, 22, is charged with reckless endangerment, felony evading arrest, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, an open container violation and several traffic violations. 

Blount County Sheriff’s deputies observed Myers driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on Montvale Road on Tuesday when she made an unsignaled right turn on to Willow Pond Drive in an attempt to evade police. She then attempted to hit the deputy cruiser head-on while running a stop sign. 

She then crashed in a ditch on Montvale Road but was able to drive out of the ditch onto Montvale Road before she came to a stop at a Marathon Gas Station. 

Myers and two male passengers were ordered out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Myers was observed drinking a beer while on the ground.

Myers admitted to drinking and driving and, stated she consumed an entire ‘fifth’ of liquor that day and then started consuming beer. 

She was placed in leg restraints and double cuffed due after resisting heavily to being placed in the patrol car. She also threatened to kill one of the deputies if she saw them in public. 

Myers was transported to the Blount County Jail without incident. This is a developing story and we’ll continue to update the details as they become available.
