Rockwood woman charged with lying about being assaulted by police officer

Local News

A Rockwood woman was arrested and charged on Wednesday after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says she lied about being sexually assaulted by a police officer.

Christy Hunter, 42, was charged with filing a false report and retaliation for past action following a grand jury indictment.

TBI agents say Hunter reported on January 6 that she had been sexually assaulted by a Rockwood police officer while she was being arrested for suspicion of shoplifting.

Agents say during their investigation, they gathered evidence that showed the allegations had no merit.

Hunter is behind held on $20,000 bond.
