ONEIDA, Tenn. (WATE) – A food bank and health clinic that serves the people of Scott County is being forced to relocate after a bank purchased buildings on its city block.
Scott Christian Care Center on Alberta Street in Oneida received notice in February that the block was being bought by an area bank. Eight buildings including, including two belonging to the care center, will be demolished.
In the short term, the center will set up in a smaller facility in order to continue its mission to provide medical services to the community, but there will be a lapse while a transition is made.
The nonprofit was donated some land, but it is needing to raise funds for that facility, part of the center’s long-term plan. There is a GoFundMe set up for this.
The last day for the Scott Christian Care Center at its Alberta Street location will be the end of this month. The food bank closes Tuesday.
