One lane of I-40 is now re-open after being shut down for several hours after a fire involving a tractor-trailer at mile marker 451 around 4 a.m. Saturday morning.
Cocke County Emergency Management says they believe the fire was caused by the brakes on the tractor-trailer getting too hot and catching the tire on fire.
The fire then spread to the trailer. The driver was able to disconnect tractor from the burning trailer and pull away. The driver is safe.
Cocke County Fire Department, Grassy Fork Volunteer Fire Department, and a North Carolina fire department worked the fire.
