A Sevier County businessman has been indicted and arrested on sales tax evasion charges.

Wyatt Bunch, 37, owner of Jayell Ranch in Sevierville, was indicted last week on one count of theft over $250,000; 48 counts of failing to remit collected sales tax; and one count of tax evasion. The indictments allege Bunch failed to remit collected sales tax to the state.

Bunch could face up to 25 years in prison and a fine of $50,000 on the theft charge and two years and up to a $3,000 fine for each of the other charges.

Bunch surrendered to authorities and is being held at the Sevier County jail on $25,000 bond.
