Sevierville woman charged with man’s December murder

A Sevier County woman has been indicted and charged with murdering a Sevierville man last month.

Krista Faye Owens, 38, is charged with first degree murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary and attempted first degree murder in the death of Billy Joe Huskey, 75.

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office says on December 10, around 3:18 p.m., they found Huskey inside his home suffering from a gunshot would. He was taken to UT Medical Center where he later died.

A woman was inside the home at the time ran to a neighbor’s house to call 911. Another woman, later identified as Owens, ran from the house before police arrived but was taken into custody in a wooded area. She was arrested on an outstanding warrant and has been held in the Sevier County Jail since then.

Owens is being held on $750,000 bond and will be arraigned at a later date.
