Sheriff: Dandridge man killed wife before taking his own life

Local News

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two people found dead after a standoff at a home in Dandridge on Tuesday.

Deputies say they were called to a domestic disturbance on Oak Grove Road around 1:30 p.m. When they arrived, a child came running out the door and a man, Juan Lopez Pineda, 46, said he had shot his wife and went back inside.

A deputy took the child to safety and more deputies arrived to try to contact the people inside the home.

A couple of hours later, a special response unit from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson City Police arrived and entered the home around 4:40 p.m.

They found Pineda and his wife, Lenor Vazquez Silva, 39, inside the home dead. Police believe Pineda shot his wife and then took his own life.

The investigation is ongoing.
