KPD investigates shooting reported on Mississippi, Western avenues

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) – Knoxville Police are investigating a reported shooting Monday afternoon that began on Mississippi Avenue and ended up near the Food City on Western Avenue.

Officers were on the scene at the Food City, which is near the intersection of Western Avenue and Middlebrook Pike.

KPD later releasing a statement that at 2:53 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a shooting reported at the 2000 block of Mississippi Avenue; from which a white male victim fled the scene and went to the Food City at 1950 Western Avenue.

The victim chose not to press charges and suffered a minor injury. He was treated at the scene by EMS.

KPD saying they detained two suspects following the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
